Well, you can register a complaint against such people and TRAI will impose a serious penalty on such people. Those who do not follow the TRAI guidelines then they might land up in paying huge penalties to the government. To register a complaint, just follow the simple procedure and have those people penalized.

How to Register a Complaint for Pesky or Unsolicited SMS / Calls?

Before Registering a complaint, make sure you are registering the same with in the 7 days of the sms or call received. You can register a complaint by calling your Telecom Operator by dialing 1909 and speak to the Customer Care Executive or follow the IVR instruction. Once you register the complaint, then you will be given a Unique Complaint Number to check back the status later.

You can also register a complaint through SMS by following the simple method. For Example: “COMP TEL NO XXXXXXXXXX;dd/mm/yy;Time in hh:mm; short description of Unsolicited Commercial Communication“, and send it to “1909”.

As mentioned above, all you need to change is the highlighted words. For Example, XXXXXXXXXX is the Sender ID, either you get 10 digits Mobile number or you get Alpha-numeric sender id and rest I think you follow them.

After registering you can check the status of your “UCC Complaint Registration Status” at https://www.trai.gov.in
