What is UIC and BIC in WhatsApp Business API?

  • User-initiated Conversation: A conversation that initiates in response to a user message. Whenever a business replies to a user within the 24 hour customer service window, that message will be associated with a user-initiated conversation. Businesses can send free-form messages within this 24 hour customer service window.
  • Business-initiated Conversation: A conversation that initiates from a business sending a user a message outside the 24 hour customer service window. Messages that initiate a business-initiated conversation will require a message template.

Will I be charged separately for WhatsApp Conversations?

Yes, You may recharge and manage WhatsApp Conversation Credits separately.

The cost of each conversation you initiate (UIC or BIC) is debited from the recharge each time you do so.

The user's country affects this pricing. You will be charged INR 0.80 per Marketing, INR 0.37 per Utility, INR 0.37 per Authentication and INR 0.35 each Services for Indian users.

What is a session window or customer service window?

A messaging session window begins when someone sends a message to your Whatsapp business number and lasts for 24 hours from the time of the most recent message received.

Throughout these 24 hours, you are free to engage or respond with ANY kind of free form coversation messages.

Does WhatsApp Business API cost nothing?

WhatsApp Business API is not free, in contrast to the WhatsApp for Business app that is accessible through the Google Play Store. The base price established by WhatsApp and the commission levied by BSP determine the pricing. BSPs pay WhatsApp to access their API and share a connection with their end users. Each BSP is allowed to determine its own pricing.
